Once the regular High School Tennis season is done, coaches select their top players to advance to post-season play with the hopes of securing spots at the State Championships. Post-season spots are limited and teams often have internal playoff and/or ladder matches to determine who advances.
In contrast to the regular season, players in post-season play advance based on their own results, irrespective of how their teammates fare. There are independent singles and doubles brackets and players may only compete in one category - singles or doubles. Doubles partners must be from the same school. Depending on the size of the District and the number of spots allotted to State, there may first be Sub-District qualifying tournaments, the winners of which then advance to the District Tournament to determine who will then secure that District's spots at State.
Once the Sub-District and District tournament dates and locations are set, you can search for more information on them below. Typically draws and schedules will be posted so you can track players advancing to Districts and then State.
Pro tip: Often post-season tournaments conflict with PSAT dates in the Fall and AP exams in the Spring. Identifying conflicts early makes it much easier to work with coaches and school administrators to resolve them.
